Quite simply, a precision cut stone is optimally faceted and polished according to the specific physical, chemical, and optical properties of a each material type. Proper angles are used in the faceting process and when a gemstone is faceted according to these guidelines, the result is a finished stone that dazzles the eye and is one with which you may be proud to have in your gem collection or in a piece of jewelry. MOST gems are faceted overseas by either large cutting shops or at the local mine sites so as to produce the greatest yield (carat weight). "Bigger is better" until one notices some unpleasant characteristics of these gems, such as windows, chips & scratches, overall dull appearance & lustre, etc which seem to be present a large majority of the time. We cannot stress enough the *importance* of obtaining proper cuts on your gemstones. Remember the "4 C's" (Color, Cut, Clarity, Carat Weight)? Sure custom faceted gemstones cost more, but don't you deserve the best? Precision faceted gems are truly in a league of their own...always!
